The SSD have the same nominal speed, but why is the read/write efficiency of TLC better than QLC?TLC stores 3 bits of data per cell (8 states), while QLC stores 4 bits (16 states). As a result, QLC requires more precise voltage control, leading to more complex signal processing and higher latency during read/write operations. Additionally, QLC has longer program/erase times (a single operation takes about twice as long as TLC) and a smaller simulated SLC cache capacity. Once the cache is exhausted, the direct write speed can drop significantly (potentially below 100MB/s). Although the nominal speeds are the same, QLC's underlying architecture requires handling more voltage states and background optimizations, resulting in lower sustained read/write efficiency compared to TLC. This difference is particularly noticeable in high-load scenarios.
